Natalie has over 15 years professional experience in education, public relations and the arts. Her experience as a member of the Society of Royce Fellows (Brown University Swearer Center for Public Service) laid a foundation for her career in community engagement and social innovation. Since then, she has founded and directed youth/community development programs in the U.S. and the Caribbean including:

Her passion for learning was influenced by her parents and the unique cast of educators/mentors that have guided her path. Her first education course, “The Craft of Teaching,” with Bil Johnson at Brown University offered her insight into ways that education could transform minds and communities. She was recruited to direct STEM enrichment programs in rural Alabama under the mentorship of Andrea Agnew and was trained in public relations at the pioneering education reform organization, The Big Picture Company/Big Picture Learning with Cally Wolk and education reform pioneers Dennis Littky & Elliot Washor. She served as the Education Outreach Coordinator for the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society and was later appointed Assistant Director of the Intercultural Center at Bryant University. She moved to Miami as a Miami Teaching Fellow and after 6 years teaching mathematics and science in public and IB schools in the U.S. and the Caribbean, she is an advocate for project based learning, performance/product assessment, student centered learning and Hip Hop-based education.

Natalie is a member of the faculty at Lifestyles College, an intensive outpatient facility for adults overcoming substance dependence.

She is an avid gardener, sustainable energy enthusiast and musician.

Co-founder and Education/Program Director
Brimstone is a dynamic leader, educator, activist and artist who embodies Hip Hop’s “Can’t stop, won’t stop!” attitude. He emerged from the Hip Hop world of B-Boys, Graffiti Artists, Deejays and Emcees in the 80’s. Over the past two decades, he has earned respect for his pioneering work bridging gaps between the Hip Hop and business communities. He has written and been featured in several articles on Hip Hop culture and education and has served as a lecturer and specialist on Hip Hop history, education and culture (Brandeis University, University of Miami, Florida International University, School of Audio Engineering, Lifestyles College, Island Academy International School).

This self and mentor-taught artist and technician has stacked up performance, engineering and production credits with some of Hip Hop’s legends and artists from diverse genre including  The Cure, Nelly Furtado, KRS ONE, De La Soul, Pit Bull, Fat Joe, Whodini, Rakim, The Wailers, The Roots, Talib Kweli and Ozomatli. He lent his emcee skills on a track featured on “Celebrate Hip Hop: Jewish Artists from Around the Globe” (Producer: Craig N Co), a compilation of Jewish Hip Hop artists from the Diaspora. His music abilities have earned him the Lifetime Hip Hop Achievement Award at the Versatile Muzik Mixtape Show Awards, Best 2006 & 2007 Hip-Hop Act (City Link Magazine,) Best Rapper (Miami New Times), Best Rapper (Street Magazine), Editor’s Choice Award for his album Metamorphoses (The Miami New Times) and the Florida Grammy Showcase (Selected Finalist). When on hiatus from producing and engineering music for others, he has co-produced and distributed his own award-winning Hip Hop albums: Metamorphoses, Elevator Music and Renaissance of Hip Hop.

Brimstone’s pioneering work using HipHop for addiction rehabilitation is being piloted at Lifestyles College (Del Rey Beach, Florida).

ChoppyMATTHEW “CHOPPY BLADES” DUNCAN
PATH Program Director, Grand Rapids, MI
Choppy is a hip hop reniassance man devoted to Hip Hop’s “each one, teach one” principle. He has been called an educator, journalist, DJ, community organizer, producer, MC and activist. He has hip hop roots in Grand Rapids and Miami and is focused on community building and will forever view life as continuous education. He believes deeply in educating youth about hip hop’s original purpose of being the “voice of a forgotten community” and uses this view to break down and redirect the negative stereotypes created by big business, media, and pop culture. When not fitting artificial limbs or braces on those with musculoskeltal and neuromuscular deformities, you can find him spinng records on street corners, making beats in the lab, recording rhymes, working on his aerosol art skills or bringing people from different walks of life together in one room to build up the community. Choppy is also the founder of www.hiphopnewsgr.com.

Choppy started out as a volunteer and avid supporter of PATH. He was recruited by the legendary Miami crew and PATH fundraising super group, Plan Beats. This relationship lead to an even deeper commitment to PATH and the mission of its founders. Choppy spearheaded PATH’s expansion into Grand Rapids, MI in 2014.
