DO YOU REMEMBER…….Illmatic? Tupac vs. Biggie? Triple 5 Soul? Tommy Hilfiger?  Buckethats? Girbauds?

We’re taking it back to 1993-1997! Join the PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy 2017 cohort, family, friends and supporters for an immersive, entertaining night of Hip Hop history. Researched and developed by PATH youth, directed by Teo Castellanos and scripted by Brimstone127 and Natalie Lewis Schere, this multimedia showcase is 100% edutainment (education + entertainment). Fun and appropriate for all ages.

Miami is home to one of the nation’s longest running Hip Hop education programs. For the 10th year, PATH: Preserving, Archiving & Teaching Hiphop, Inc. welcomed South Florida teens to the PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy 2017, an arts leadership experience that trains the next generation of Hip Hop artists, leaders, scholars and entrepreneurs.

This summer, youth learned foundation Hip Hop history, philosophy and trained in the 4 main artistic elements of Hip Hop with resident DJs from Scratch DJ Academy, MECS (Miami graffiti legend), Sekajipo (MC) and Bboys Lego (Flipside Kings)  & Triple 7 (Street Masters Crew).

The program was hosted at MDC Live Arts Lab at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus. PATH’s 9-year partnership with founding presenters Miami Light Project/The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse and Scratch DJ Academy continued with sessions hosted in the Wynwood Art District.

Industry professionals from around the city share professional development advice through master classes. Past master teachers include: Maseo of De La Soul, Dice Raw of the Legendary Roots Crew, Grandmaster Dee of Whodini, Teo Castellanos, Lebo, Marlon Hill (international and corporate attorney and Stichiz of 103.5 The Beat.
