This is a creative, personal, and professional development residency for teens.

COLLAB with peers and industry professionals.
CREATE inspired work informed by Hip Hop.
CAPTIVATE an audience with your unique story.

We’re looking for talented teens to imagine the future of Hip Hop. The project will take teens through the production building process while working collaboratively under the direction of an all-star team of directors. We’ll uncover, recover and discover stories of Hip Hop that have shaped the culture we all know and love.

WORK ON

Beats | Dance | Monologue | Photography | Song / Rap / Rhyme 
| Spoken Word piece | Visual art | Video | Lookbook

+ Driven artist, leader, scholar and/or entrepreneur (ages 14 – 18)

+ Strong interest in developing your creative abilities and production skills

+ An interest in producing art that has social impact

+ Openness to work collaboratively

+ Commitment to document and share your creative process

Performing Arts (Vocals): Songwriting / MC or Rap / Singing / Spoken Word / Vocal Performance

Performing Arts (Movement): Choreography / Creative Movement / Dance / B Boy or B Girl

Audio/Sound: Music Composition / Production / Recording / Sound Engineering

Visual Art: Graffiti Art / Costume & Set Design / Fashion Styling

IT’S NOT A GAME! You must be available to attend ALL program dates:

+ Family Orientation: March 20, 2022 @ 4:00 – 5:30 pm (Online)

The Breaks: March 21 – 25, 2022  @ 1:00 – 5:00 pm

+ Final Cypher: March 27, 2022 @ 3:00 – 7:00 pm

+ Mandatory Sunday rehearsals + site visits: March 27 – May 22, 2022 @ 4:00 pm

Miami OURstory: A PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy Production, is made possible with the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners and Miami Light Project. The project is funded in part by The Children’s Trust. The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
