PATH SCHOLARS COACH

Shradha Patel,  Co-founder of Roxbury Prep High School (Massachusetts), was named one of Boston Business Journal’s “Power 50 for 2020” for her leadership in education. She works with PATH Scholars and families to identify the schools that fit their individual needs and abilities, navigate the college prep process, and make the best possible educational decisions.

After 20 years of service as an educator and school leader, Shradha is motivated by an outrage that quality education isn’t available to everyone living in the wealthiest country in the world.

Launch: Tuesday, April 5 @ 7:30 pm
Spring Scholar Intensive: Thursdays @ 7:30 pm from April 7 – 28, 2022

  • Be a high school junior
  • Have an interest in applying to college
  • Show up on on time for every commitment starting with the Orientation
  • At least 4 hours/month from Spring 2022 – Graduation 2023
  • Complete service learning commitment (you can earn up to 100 hours with PATH)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with PATH staff

PATH PAIR I

PATH PAIR I’s must:

  • Be ages 13 – 18 years old and at least a rising high school freshman
  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA or make progress toward personal academic achievement goals
  • Be a PATH Hip Hop Academy (Summer, Winter and/or Spring) alumni or be invited
  • Have successfully completed at least one module of training in one Hip Hop element (DJ, MC, B-Boy/B-Girl and/or Urban Art)
  • Demonstrate commitment to social justice and social entrepreneurship

Minimum: 13 months

  • Declare Hiphop 2021: PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy 2021 (July 6 – August 13, 2021)
  • At least 10 hours/month to residency activities throughout the school year, including but not limited to:
    • Bi-monthly event (TBD)
    • Cohort convo (2x/month) 
    • Grade level check in with scholar coach (1 – 2x/month)
  • Participate in PATH outreach activities (educational, recreational, service, etc.)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with PATH staff, Board, donors and partners
  • Serve on at least one event committee during the residency cycle
  • Participate in recruitment, planning and execution of the PATH Hip Hop Academies
  • Develop a personal portfolio
  • Earn 50+ community service hours
  • Exclusive performance/presentation opportunities
  • Qualify for internships, scholarships and other professional development experiences
  • Year round training in the history, philosophy and 4 main artistic elements of Hiphop culture
  • Lifelong relationships with peers and coaches/mentors
  • Improve leadership skills
  • Build a foundation for success in your personal, academic and professional life

PATH PAIR II

  • Be ages 19+ years old
  • Have a sustainable education, employment or entrepreneurial action plan
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience working with PATH, Inc., youth (ages 14-20) or in Hip Hop culture
  • Be committed to youth and community development as demonstrated by past or current community involvement
  • Make a contractual commitment to this 13 month residency
  • At least 8 hours/month to residency activities throughout the school year, including but not limited to:
    • Monthly cypher: Sunday afternoon jam + workshop (3 hours/month)
    • Cohort convo: Conference call with your group of PAIR I’s (approx. 30 min/wk)
    • Service learning project: Pre-approved community service learning projects (this could include projects that YOU are working on already) (1.5 hours/month)
    • Link Ups: Fun, social events like battles, film nights, museum/gallery tours, concerts, art walks, jams, etc. (1.5 hours/month)
  • Participate in PATH outreach activities (educational, recreational, service, etc.)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with PATH staff, donors and community partners
  • Serve on at least one event committee during the residency cycle
  • Co-mentor (with another PAIR II) a group of 4 – 8 PAIR I’s
  • Participate in ongoing youth development training (quarterly trainings)
  • Earn a stipend
  • Mentorship from a PAIR III & PAIR IV cohort member
  • Positively influence youth and community
  • Get support for YOUR projects/ventures  (you will have a whole crew of folks to offer feedback, promote and show up for YOU)
  • Year round training in the history, philosophy and 4 main artistic elements of Hiphop culture
  • Lifelong relationships with peers and mentors
  • Practice leadership + mentorship skills
  • Contribute to the growth of PATH, Inc.
  • Enhance your personal and professional life

  • Have a child aged 14 – 18
  • Be committed to joining an intentional community actively engaged in youth and community development 
  • Make a minimum one-year commitment to this fellowship
  • Support your child in fulfillment of their creative, academic, service and leadership commitments including but not limited to:
    • Monthly cypher: Sunday afternoon jam + workshop (3 hours/month)
    • Cohort convo: Conference call with group of Fellows (approx. 30 min/wk)
    • Service learning project: Pre-approved community service learning projects (1.5 hours/month)
    • Link Ups: Fun, social events like battles, film nights, museum/gallery tours, concerts, art walks, jams, etc. (1.5 hours/month)

  • Arrange transportation for your child to attend/participate in PATH activities

  • Complete application materials, waivers and evaluations

  • Participate in PATH outreach activities (educational, recreational, service, etc.)

  • Maintain ongoing communication with PATH staff, donors and community partners

  • Serve on at least one event committee during the Fellowship cycle

  • One check-in every 2 months

  • Support students in fulfillment of their creative, academic, service and leadership commitments

  • Volunteer at one event/quarter

  • Positively influence youth and community
  • Get support for your child  (you will have a whole crew of folks to offer feedback, promote and show up for YOU and your child)
  • Year-round opportunities to connect with other families who are invested in their children’s development
  • Lifelong relationships with other parents and/or guardians
  • Access to exclusive events, resources and opportunities for you and your child(ren)
  • Contribute to the growth of PATH, Inc.
  • Enhance your personal and community life
