Funk Styles

The Course: This 6-week course introduces dance styles like Popping, Locking, The Robot, and others that underpinned a cultural movement unique to the West Coast. Use movement as a way to tell a story while engaging in healthy habits and physical self expression led by Andrews “Nonms” Diaz and PATH alum, Dez Katrina. 

Final Project: Create and present a series of choreographed works built on foundation West Coast styles.

Project Desires: Just learning different approaches & ideologies. Learning about the work ethic that is involved with the creative process. Building strong relationships with like-minded individuals. And having freedom of expression most of all.

Assets: I’m definitely interested in the beat production and recording class, also writing and recording music and learning about different video and editing techniques me and my fiancé both film and edit we also write and record our on Music and i also paint as well as a side job. So to learn & incorporate more knowledge with these classes would be extremely beneficial.

Assets: I would like to be more involved with my community. Learn all elements of hip hop in depth not just bboy is what I’m familiar with, I think this would be a great experience. I would bring an open mind and open heart into space and share my knowledge as well.
